Meaningful Play 2022 is a three-day international conference held in Lansing, Michigan, that focuses on the impactful role of games in society. The event delves into a wide range of topics, including meaningful applications of games, game design challenges, and the potential of educational games. It brings together industry professionals, academics, and enthusiasts to explore how games can influence learning, culture, and innovation. Participants engage in discussions, presentations, and workshops aimed at advancing the understanding of games as both a medium of entertainment and a tool for meaningful social and educational impact.

I aimed to develop a cohesive brand guide that conveys cutting-edge creativity, drawing inspiration from retro games to capture the pixelated, DIY spirit of early ROM games. To achieve this, I created a glitch effect library that could be consistently integrated throughout the branding, adding a dynamic, modern feel. Arrows were also incorporated as symbols of progress and forward momentum, reflecting the conference’s goal of advancing our understanding of human interaction with games. The overall design strikes a balance between innovation and a nod to gaming’s cultural roots.

Logo inspired by ergonomic Controller Design

The logo is inspired by ergonomic controller design to reflect comfort, ease of use, and technology. The smooth, curved shapes mimic the natural contours of an ergonomic controller, suggesting a focus on user comfort and interaction. The choice of this inspiration highlights the balance between aesthetics and practicality, aiming to evoke a sense of user-centered technology.
